Batman Birthday Card

A few weeks ago our spunky grandson, Chase, turned three.  We threw him a Batman themed birthday party.  While I didn't get any pics of the decorations this time around (mainly because I didn't make them), I did remember to take a photo of the Batman birthday card I did make him.  

I designed a cool night sky scene for the card.  The night sky is Core'dinations Core Couture Glitter. 

The skyline was cut from my Silhoutte.  I layered the buildings three high to give it the look as if you were looking onto a city.  The bat was also cut from my Silhoutte and popped up with some foam tape.

Seth is ONE!

A happy toddler is one of my most favorite things in the world. They are smiley, they are curious, they are learning and they are always in motion.  My grandson, Seth, is the epitome of a happy toddler and I think the "I am one!" photos in today's layout show just what a happy boy he is.

I wanted to create a very "boy" layout with the photos of my Grandson so I grabbed my stock of Core'dinations Chocolate Box Cardstock.  I embossed, debossed, and die cut my way through the Chocolate Box on this layout!  Each piece of Chocolate Box was sanded to show the great core colors I chose to compliment Seth's plaid shirt.

I used Spellbinder's Sprightly Sprockets Dies to create all the fun gears on this page.   Just loving how once I sanded down gears they looked aged with all that red showing though the Chocolate Box.  I added a bit of Ranger Distress Crackle Paint to them make them pop just a bit more.

Seth is ONE!

Happy Monday!  This past weekend we celebrated my Grandson's first birthday.  It is hard to believe that our sweet, smiley Seth is already one!

I snapped a few photos of him before the chaos of the party.  This one is my fave!  He is just the smiliest little boy.

I whipped this card up for Seth (before Kass came up with a Mickey Mouse theme).  Nothing overly complicated, just a base made with Core'dinations and lots of October Afternoon embellishments.

I did whip up some Mickey themed decorations, but that will be another post. :)

Hello World

So far this year I have enjoyed the arrival of two sweet baby boys into this world.  Well, the first really wasn't this year, he was born on New Year's Eve to my sister, Kerry, and her husband.  Sandy (my other sister) and I just got back from a trip to Arizona to meet Quinten!

Kerry asked me to take some family pictures of them while we were there.  I am no professional photographer!  These are a couple of my fave shots of them.  Doesn't Quinten look like he is devising an evil plan in the top photo?

The second little guy we welcomed to the world this year is Grant.  His beautiful mama is one of my co-workers.  While I am not sharing any photos of him today, I will say that he is the sweetest little baby boy!  Here is the card I made for Grant's birth...

Core'dially Washi

This week Core'dinations is hopping with Xyron again!  You'll want to check out each of their blogs every day this week for inspiration and prizes!  

Have you thought about using some embossed Core'dinations Cardstock to make your own textured washi tape?   I made my own for this cute boy card and today I am going to show you how super easy it is to do this!  

To make the washi tape pieces you will want some scrap Core'dination Cardstock pieces, embossing folders, Core'dinations Sand It Gadget, Core'dinations Dust Buddy and a Xyron Create-A-Sticker.

1) Start by embossing your scrap pieces of Coredinations Cardstock and cut them to the width you want your washi tape (I did a 1/2 wide strip with my red and the width of my embossed stars on the blue).
2) Use your Core'dinations Sandit Gadget and Dust Buddy to make the core of the Core'dinations pop.  3) Rip each strip into the length you would like your washi tape to be.
4) Run your embossed and trimmed cardstock into the Create-A-Sticker.
5) Peel the adhesive strip back and voila, you have Core'dination Cardstock washi tape!

You Rule Our Hearts

I am having a great love of all things Kraft lately and I find myself reaching for the Tim Holtz Kraft-Core by Core'dinations all the time  The sweet layout of my grandson is chock-full of this line! You will find this layout on the Core'dinations Blog today, too.

I sanded the background cardstock, Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection No.10, using my Sandit Gadget to give it a bit of an aged look.  To create the rulered mat, I embossed a piece of Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection No.6, with Darice 12" ruler embossing folders. After fussy cutting out each ruler, I inked them with Distress Ink and added them to a 9"x 8" mat of Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection No. 23.

The title work is die cut from Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection No.21 and distressed a bit with the Sandit Gadget.  Of course, I always use the Dust Buddy everytime I sand.  The photo mat and die punched hearts are made from scraps of Core'dinations papers I had in my stash.  Got to love stash!

Happy Sunday! Our grandson, Chase, turned 2 on Friday. So hard to believe that our lil' man is 2. We have him and his brother for the day today. Hoping to get some 2 year pics of Chase. Tonight we are celebrating him with a BBQ and cake.

I had no idea where I was going with this card when I stamped and embossed this great Boy In Cape image from Viva Las VegaStamps, but I am so happy with how it turned out.  It is fun and colorful just like our lil' man.

Our Sweet Boy

Happy Friday!  Today I am sharing a bit of our sweet boy with you.  Our grandson, Chase, is such a happy little man and has been since he was born.  I have been slowly chipping away at his 1st year album. These two layouts are simple and sweet, just like our little man.  

These sweet photos were taken of Chase and Kass (his Mom) the day we celebrated his first birthday.  He was a ham for the camera!  Doesn't he look like he was listening intently to Kass?

Neither of the layouts I am sharing today have any journaling on them.  I am leaving this part of his album for Kass to write in her own writing.  While I have captured the pictures, I want her to capture the words. 

Chase was all bundled up for his first snow play day!  He really wasn't sure what to make of it at first.  Probably didn't help that this on-the-go boy couldn't move in that snow suit.

Welcome Sweet Baby Boy!

This morning we welcome a new addition into our family.

My 2nd Grandson! 

Seth Ryan was born at 7:52 A.M.

Weighing in at 6 lbs. 14 oz.

He is 19 inches long.

Momma and baby are doing well!  

Of course, I can not show up to see my sweet, new Grandson 

without a card made with lots of love just for him!

Me & Mom

For the first year of his life we were honored to help raise him alongside my daughter, Kass.  I am not saying it was easy or that our life wasn't hectic or that there weren't days that I was thankful not to have my own toddler while in my 40's.  I am saying that we got to share some really precious moments that not all grandparents have the honor of having.  

Since they lived with us, I have tons of fabulous pictures of Chase and Kass. I take deep pleasure in creating the scrapbook pages will go into their album.  

There are only a few of the pages I have created for their album that have journaling written by me.  Those few pages are from my perspective and meant to be seen that way. Most of the pages for that album are void of journaling, although there is a space for it.  This empty space is meant to give Kass the opportunity to tell their story, because they have a story.  A story that doesn't always include me.  It has taken Scott & I awhile to come to terms with that and to be able to let her be a Mom in her own right. She is a darn good Mom, too!

The fun photos in "Me & Mom" were taken last Easter at my sister's house.  It was Chase's first Easter and he had a grand time being the center of attention.  Doesn't he looking super cute whispering into Kass' ear?  Just like he had something funny to say even though he didn't talk then.

Curiosity

Paper and glue make me so happy. Seriously happy.

A form of stress relief and creativity in my otherwise organized, heavily scheduled world.

I relish getting packages of scrappy goodness in the mail.  

Pretty sure I told Scott to look for three packages for me this week. 

I find that exciting enough to make me giddy. 

In this month's package from Scrappy Chics Kit Club, I got the add-on kit 

which was chock-full of Authentique's Curiosity line.  It is definitely a 

school themed line, but I bucked the system a bit.  

The first layout I am sharing is definitely my favorite.

Chase is definitely a curious fellow!  He is always into something, generally when we aren't looking.

I loved that Authentique adds quotes on the strips at the bottom of their papers.

I added the one from the Curiosity line to the top of the layout.  Perfect! 

Scott's Mom became a proud Great-Grandma twice within a month.

You can see how proud she is to be holding the two cousins.  

The love stamp is by Glitz Design. It can be found in the Scrappy Chics' Add-On Kit this month. 

It is hard to tell from the photo, but I cut apart the Studious paper and laminated 

the alphabets to make flash cards.  The altered library card holder is meant 

to be storage for the laminated flash cards.  So simple!

Lovin' on Scrappy Chics!

I have to say that Scrappy Chic's October Kit is one of my favorites!

Lovin' the balance of muted, pretty colors of Teresa Collins Vintage Finds

and the bright, bold colors of the Crate Paper Farmhouse Collection.

"A Daughter" has to be one of my recent favorites. 

I just love the grey on grey with just a touch of peach.

Doesn't hurt that my beautiful daughter, Lily, is the focus.  

Can you tell by "Sweetie Pie" that I am loving green & yellow?

The cute photos of my daughter and grandson, Kass & Chase, definitely

pulled out the green and yellow from the Farmhouse Collection papers. 

I have been taking lots of pictures on Instagram (I am ktbomb15 on Instagram if you want to follow me) lately and just figured out how to print them on my new HP Photosmart printer.  

"My Time With Mimi & Gramps" has Instagram pics of Chase spending time with us while Kass recovers from her accident.  It is so fun to do the day to day toddler activities with him! 

Yes, drinking a milkshake is a normal activity in our house. 

Using both the Vintage Finds and Farmhouse Collection papers in this month's Scrappy Chics Kit I created this simple, yet pretty frame.  I really loved all the fun hexagon Teresa Collins stickers that came with the kit and wanted to highlight "Make Good Things Happen."  

The frame is a 4 x12 panoramic. I used the Sizzix 2" hexagon die to cut the hexagons.  

I am hoping to make some more frames to compliment this one to hang in my craft room.

Make It Masculine

I am not a big maker of masculine cards.

I should be as the list of men and boys in our everyday life just keeps growing.

Maybe having a grandson after years of only having daughters

inspires me to use the bolder colors?
