Make It Masculine

I am not a big maker of masculine cards.
I should be as the list of men and boys in our everyday life just keeps growing.
This week it was my turn to decide the callenge at Crop Stop Challenge Blog.
I am challenging you to make a masculine card. Boy or Man?  Your choice!

I am loving the look of Kraft papers with bold colors lately.
Maybe having a grandson after years of only having daughters
inspires me to use the bolder colors?

I embossed a Tim Holtz Kraft Tag with the Retro Circles Embossing Folder.
The fun accents on the tag are Candi-Dots.  Have you seen them?
They come in so many colors and even a few patterns.

NSD Challenge at Crop Stop!

In honor of National Scrapbook Day, CropStop challenges you to a SCRAPLIFT!
This is a two week special challenge.

Today, May 5, 2012, is National Scrapbook Day. National Scrapbook Day was started in 1994 by Creative Memories and is celebrated on the first Saturday every May. Since 1994 paper crafters everywhere celebrate their passion for scrapbooking and other paper projects on this day. Who knows, maybe this will be a national holiday some day!

To celebrate this awesome day, the CropStop Creative Team challenges you to scraplift one of their posted projects found on CropStop Challenge Blog.  Choose your project, create your own version of it, and link it at CropStop Challenge Blog. The winner will be chosen by random draw on May 20th and posted in the blog on Monday, May 21, 2012.  Prize is a $20 Gift Certificate to the CropStop Store.

This is the card I shared for CropStop's NSD Scraplift Challege:

Follow these simple guidelines to qualify:
1. Enter a newly created project that scraplifts one of the pictured projects.
2. Label your project with your name and link it using the link tool at the bottom of this post.
3. Give the name of the person/project that you have scraplifted in your blog post.
Challenge deadline is Saturday, May 19, 2012 at midnight, U.S. East Coast Time.

Hop on over to CropStop Challenge Blog to see what other wonderful creations we challenge you to scraplift & this week's Embossing Challenge!

Emboss This!

I have new found love of embossing.
I really love the texture an embossed image adds to a project.

This week's challenge at CropStop Challenge Blog is to emboss.
Dry emboss, wet emboss, de-boss.  Your choice!
My example for this week's challenge includes both dry and wet embossing.

Since I only wanted part of the card dry embossed, I placed the Cart Us "Roses"
embossing folder over 2/3 of my card base before running it through my Big Shot.

To wet emboss I stamped my image with Versa Mark and evenly spread
grainy black embossing powder over the stamped image.  I used my
handy-dandy heat gun to heat set the image.

Crop Stop Supplies:

Crop Stop has an amazing supply of embossing folders & is the only supplier
in the U.S. of Cart-Us and Couture Creations folders.  I love the sharp
crisp images you get from the Cart-Us folders. The Couture Creations
are awesome because they are 5" x7"!  I even have a 10% off coupon
on my side bar for Crop Stop if you NEED to have these awesome folders.

Be sure to upload your challenge project to CropStop Challenge Blog.
Guidelines for prize eligibility can be found on the blog.

A Bright & Sunny Card

Good morning!  I am wishing for a bright & sunny day today
here in Maine.  We have gone from 80 degrees and sunny to
30 degrees and snowy within a week's time. Brr.....
Guess I will have to settle for sharing a bright & sunny card
card with you all today.  It is a good second choice!

Have you used La Blanche Silicone Stamps before?
Although I had seen them and fell in love with them at CHA,
this was my first time using one on a card.  They are just fantastic!
The intricate detail of the stamp is mind blowing and the
stamped image came out perfect the first time stamping.

This week's challenge at Crop Stop Challenge Blog is to create a bright card, layout,
or project.  Whatever is your favorite works for us!
I kept my focus on bright colors in my card for this challenge.

A 10% off coupon code for any purchase at Crop Stop
is always available on my blog side bar.

I have also linked up with these other challenge sites:

Flourishing....

This week's challenge at Crop Stop Challenge Blog
is to use flourishes on your project.

I found some old Maya Road chipboard flourishes tucked away in my stash.
They were easily embossed with a Sizziz Embossing Folder,
spritzed with mist, and then swiped with a white ink pad.

For the cute little birds, I used my brand new Tim Holtz Distress Markers.
They work like a charm. Oh, the colors!

Prize eligibility rules for this week's Crop Stop Challenge can be found
on the blog. Don't forget that the March "National Craft Month"
Challenge is going on until the end of the month!

This week at Crop Stop Challenge Blog we are celebrating butterflies.

For my card I used the following Crop Stop supplies:
Momento Ink - Tuxedo

A Little Shabby

I am always in awe of those artists who excel at Shabby Chic.
The layers, the textures, the prettiness.
This week's challenge at Crop Stop Challenge Blog is to create a project that is "Shabby" in style.

For my Crop Stop DT example I embraced a couple of elements of shabby.
The flower was made by cutting book pages using Blossom 2 & Dahlia from Spellbinders Dies.  I spritzed them with mist, scrunch them, and then layered them.

This week's challenge at Crop Stop Challenge Blog is use a quote on your project.
I collect quotes I find online in my Pinterest and others in one of my altered notebooks.
You never know when you will need an appropriate quote!

My quote is an Irish Blessing meant to compliment the little butterflies.

Go For Gold!

I am a silver girl.  Yep, love silver.
So when I had to design a card for this week's "Go For the Gold"
challenge at Crop Stop Challenge Blog I was a little stumped.
I'll be honest, I created four cards (yes, four) before I was
completely happy going for the gold.

I chose to pull out my gold craft paint and use it as an accent color.  I ran the dress form through my Big Shot using the new Brocade embossing folder from Craft Concepts. Once embossed, I ran a thin layer of gold paint over the raised brocade design and spritzed it with a little blue mist.

This Crop Stop Challenge runs through next Wednesday.  You can find prize eligibility guidelines at Crop Stop Challenge Blog.

Core'dinations Paper: Tim Holtz Distress Collection
Spellbinders Dies: Labels Four

Going In Circles

Today's challenge at Crop Stop Challenge Blog
is to create a layout or card in the shape of a circle.

To shape my card I used my very old CM circle cutters. I am pretty sure that they were the first tools I bought for scrapping.  I don't have it in my heart to get rid of them because I use them more than many of my newer techy tools.

Crop Stop Supply List:
Spellbinders: Nested Pennants
Zots

There is plenty of time to create something for this Crop Stop challenge because it is up for two weeks! You can find the challenge guidelines on the Crop Stop Challenge Blog.
There is a Crop Stop Design Team Call going right now, too!

More Embossed Cards

Today I am sharing two more cards made with the World Fair Collection
embossing folders by Couture Creations.  You can find them at Crop Stop!

I kept these cards CAS to showcase the embossed images.

I love the balloon images from the Ascension embossing folder.
The detail is so crisp and just pops on this coral colored Core'dinations cardstock.
I just lightly sanded the embossed image for contrast.
I have uploaded this card for the ABC Challenge.

This card is so seriously masculine!  That is one of the things
I love about this collection of embossing folders.
To make this card I aligned two colors of Core'dinations cardstock
in the Replacements embossing folder then ran it through my Big Shot.
The two different colors aligned perfectly on my card.
The blue paper was embossed on the textured side and the red paper
was embossed on the smooth side giving it some textural contrast.

Today's new challenge at Crop Stop Challenge Blog is a music theme.
Be sure to check it out!

I know that my blog has been filled with cards, cards and more cards
lately. I promise tomorrow I will showcase a layout.
I still do those. Really!

World Fair Collection

This weekend I had some time to play with a couple more
of the World Fair Collection of embossing folders
by Couture Creations that I received from Crop Stop.

The Vintage Dressmaker embossing folder is just divine!
For this card I used the debossed side.
Using a light hand, I covered the folder in teal pearl accents
and then ran it through my Big Shot.
The teal just peeks around the wings and dress.

The Heavy Duty embossing folder is perfect for masculine projects.
Even my husband thought it was pretty cool!

Don't forget that there is a 10% off coupon code
on my side bar for any purchase at Crop Stop.

Anywhere You Go

"Anywhere U Go" was created for Moxie Fab World's

It just so happens I got a package from Crop Stop about an hour ago.
In the package was several new embossing folders
from Couture Creation's World Fair Collection.
They are a limited edition & will definitely be a favorite.
Can I just tell you how awesome I think they are?
I love that they are 5x7 folders!
I love how that the embossing is so crisp!
The "World Map" folder was just what I needed to do Moxie's Challenge.

To create the card I ran grey Core'dinations paper through
my Big Shot with the World Map folder.
I then inked the embossed image with green & blue Momento
Ink to get it an earthy feel.  My sentiment is from my Dymo.
It whipped up in no time at all!
