Fancy Frame!

Today was my turn to post on the Helmar Design Team Blog and I wanted to share my project here today, too!

This frame was inspired by a gorgeous, overpriced frame my friend Kelly saw at a shop in Austin, TX.

Knowing we could create our own fancy frames we gathered all of our adornments, supplies, and our friend Pam on a lovely Saturday afternoon.  With a table full of pretties (mostly from Kelly's collection) and lots of Helmar glue we spent the afternoon getting messy.

(Kelly)

Honestly, I think all three of us started with something in mind and wound up redoing our frame at some point during the process.  For me, I swiped off my first layer of gesso & paint because it was just a tad to thick for my taste.

(a bit too much!)

( just right!)

We all used Helmar 450 Quick Dry Ahesive and ScrapDots to attach our pretty adornments.

What I love about these frames is that we all created something totally unique from the same inspiration piece!

Today I am sharing with you a cute and easy-to-create Thanksgiving and Christmas decoration using both Helmar and Robins Nest products.  Using a frame I found for $2 at a local salvage store, I created an interchangeable holiday decoration.

Lovin' on Scrappy Chics!

I have to say that Scrappy Chic's October Kit is one of my favorites!
Lovin' the balance of muted, pretty colors of Teresa Collins Vintage Finds
and the bright, bold colors of the Crate Paper Farmhouse Collection.

"A Daughter" has to be one of my recent favorites.
I just love the grey on grey with just a touch of peach.
Doesn't hurt that my beautiful daughter, Lily, is the focus.

Can you tell by "Sweetie Pie" that I am loving green & yellow?
The cute photos of my daughter and grandson, Kass & Chase, definitely
pulled out the green and yellow from the Farmhouse Collection papers.

I have been taking lots of pictures on Instagram (I am ktbomb15 on Instagram if you want to follow me) lately and just figured out how to print them on my new HP Photosmart printer.
"My Time With Mimi & Gramps" has Instagram pics of Chase spending time with us while Kass recovers from her accident.  It is so fun to do the day to day toddler activities with him!
Yes, drinking a milkshake is a normal activity in our house.

Using both the Vintage Finds and Farmhouse Collection papers in this month's Scrappy Chics Kit I created this simple, yet pretty frame.  I really loved all the fun hexagon Teresa Collins stickers that came with the kit and wanted to highlight "Make Good Things Happen."
The frame is a 4 x12 panoramic. I used the Sizzix 2" hexagon die to cut the hexagons.
I am hoping to make some more frames to compliment this one to hang in my craft room.

Don't foget to check out what the other design team members have created at Scrappy Chics!
They will certainly inspire you to use this month's kit.

Simply Embellished Frames

We refinished a room for Lily this past spring.
She has her own little haven down in the basement.
Part of her room decor has always been altered frames
with pictures of her friends. As we were decorating the walls
in her new space, I noticed that she needed some updated
photos of her friends.  Off to The Christmas Tree Shop I went!
I found perfect white frames for only $1.40 each.  Yay!

"We Make a Perfect Pair"

Each frame is simply embellished as not to take away from the photos.
The colors are soft & feminine to match the decor of Lily's room.

"Friend"

Lily has requested several more of these frames.
Guess I didn't do too bad. :)
