Sequins, Stencils and Splatters!

A couple of weeks ago I shared the first card I made using stencils and splatters together. Feeling like I could really design many different cards using the same concept, I made two more birthday cards with sequins and paint splatters.  Sequins were just the perfect touch for finishing off both cards!

I mixed modeling paste with Distress Paint to create the textured base to use with the stencil in this first card.  This mixture dries quickly. I then splattered Distress Paints by spraying a small amount of the paint off of a paint brush.  Random placement of sequins gave this card just the perfect touch of bling.

My next card was total trial and error, but oh so fun to make!  I must have thrown away three stenciled pieces before I got the feel I wanted.

 

To create the pie chart, I heavily covered a piece of Core'dinations 110lb Smooth Cardstock with two different colored mists.  I then used Inka Gold Metallic Rub with the stencil over the misted cardstock.  This Metallic Rub is the bomb!  Totally dries without rubbing off.  The sentiment is stamped and heat embossed onto a piece of Core'dinations Vellum. Did you know they have vellum now?

Busy As A Beaver Birthday Card

I am sure you are never late sending a birthday card, but I am!  My sister is the lucky recipient of this fun belated birthday card made with Core'dinations Tim Holtz Kraft-Core Nostalgic and Shattered Collections.  

To create this card:

1) Emboss a 4.25"x 5.5" card base made with Core'dinations Kraft-Core Nostalgic No. 15.

2) Sand embossed cardbase with Sand It Gadget and dust with Dust Buddy.

3) Round bottom corners of card base with corner rounder punch.

3) Cut a 4.25" x 1" and 4.25" x 2.5" of Core'dinations Kraft-Core Shattered No. 20s, corner rounding the 1" piece.

4) Using the backside of the 2.5" piece you cut in step 3 (Kraft side), stamp your sentiment on the right lower side of this piece.  

5) Glue down the stamped Kraft piece and the 1" piece (with the Shattered side showing) 1/2 inch from bottom of card).

5) Stamp the critter image two times, once on Core'dinations Kraft-Core Nostalgic No. 23 and once on Kraft-Core Shattered No. 20s. Stamp the tree stump onto the Kraft-Core Nostalgic No. 23. ***

***Tip: Be sure to sand & dust both of these pieces before stamping your image.  By sanding and dusting before stamping, you get a sharper image and keep dust particles off of the stamp.

6) Fussy cut out both images stamped on the Kraft-Core Nostalgic No. 23.
7) Cut out the tail, belly and nose from the critter image stamped on the Shattered No. 20s and layer onto the critter image you cut out in Step 7.
8) Using double-sided foam tape, adhere the tree trunk and critter to the right side of the card, next to the stamped sentiment.
9) Give to someone.  It will certainly make them smile!

Batman Birthday Card

A few weeks ago our spunky grandson, Chase, turned three.  We threw him a Batman themed birthday party.  While I didn't get any pics of the decorations this time around (mainly because I didn't make them), I did remember to take a photo of the Batman birthday card I did make him.  

I designed a cool night sky scene for the card.  The night sky is Core'dinations Core Couture Glitter. 

The skyline was cut from my Silhoutte.  I layered the buildings three high to give it the look as if you were looking onto a city.  The bat was also cut from my Silhoutte and popped up with some foam tape.

Seth is ONE!

A happy toddler is one of my most favorite things in the world. They are smiley, they are curious, they are learning and they are always in motion.  My grandson, Seth, is the epitome of a happy toddler and I think the "I am one!" photos in today's layout show just what a happy boy he is.

I wanted to create a very "boy" layout with the photos of my Grandson so I grabbed my stock of Core'dinations Chocolate Box Cardstock.  I embossed, debossed, and die cut my way through the Chocolate Box on this layout!  Each piece of Chocolate Box was sanded to show the great core colors I chose to compliment Seth's plaid shirt.

I used Spellbinder's Sprightly Sprockets Dies to create all the fun gears on this page.   Just loving how once I sanded down gears they looked aged with all that red showing though the Chocolate Box.  I added a bit of Ranger Distress Crackle Paint to them make them pop just a bit more.

Ahhhh, Nuts!

TGIF! I am away at a crop this weekend and was so happy there was a scrapbook store for us to shop. My LSS have slowly disappeared so it is nice to see new (to me) products in person.

Today I discovered Darcie's Heart & Home stamps. I HAD to purchase the Busy Beaver clear stamp set because it is so very cute and punny (= funny + pun). Here is the card I just whipped up with it...

You can see a bit of my crop space and the pic was snapped with my phone, but I know that doesn't distract from the total cuteness of the stamps I used!!!

Seth is ONE!

Happy Monday!  This past weekend we celebrated my Grandson's first birthday.  It is hard to believe that our sweet, smiley Seth is already one!

I snapped a few photos of him before the chaos of the party.  This one is my fave!  He is just the smiliest little boy.

I whipped this card up for Seth (before Kass came up with a Mickey Mouse theme).  Nothing overly complicated, just a base made with Core'dinations and lots of October Afternoon embellishments.

I did whip up some Mickey themed decorations, but that will be another post. :)

She's 15 Today!

It is hard to believe that my fiesty, funny, beautiful and loyal Lily girl is 15 today! I am super proud of the wonderful young woman she is becoming.  She marches to her own beat and will happily smile at everyone.  She is social and sporty.  She is a movie and music and social media addict.  She is awesome! 

The other day she had her girlfriend take a poloroid of her.  This is what I found on my camera....

I made Lily a shaker birthday card inspired by Aimes.

It has been a long time since I made a shaker box, so this one is a little rough.  I am going to work on my design and will post a tutorial at some point.  Seems like everyone does these differently!

Happy Birthday to my dearest niece, Sydney!  She is a cute, spunky and funny young lady who turns 17 today.  We are so lucky to live close enough to visit with her when we have free time, which is good because my girls absolutely adore Syd and love spending time with her.

Syd is an artist herself, so making her a card is lots of fun because she really appreciates them.  Got to love a girl like that!  I chose to make a simple card with a fun color combo for her.  I am really loving the red and teal color combo lately.

Happy Birthday Kass!!!

Today is my daughter's 21st birthday.  Happy Birthday Kass!!! She is a busy Mom and works full-time, it is so hard to believe that she is just 21.  I look forward to seeing what she accomplishes in the next 21 years of her life.

I made a very "Kass" card for her birthday. Some bold colors and patterns with a bit of glitter and pearls.

The chipboard piece is from UmWowStudio.  I just love their cool chipboard shapes!  I added a bit of Quick Quotes Chalking Ink to the chipboard to pull in the teal color from the arrow print.  The cardstock is from Core'dinations (of course) and the patterned paper is from Pebblies.  

October is Birthday Month!

This month is so full of birthdays! From friends, to co-workers, to family and even my daughter's 21st birthday.  I am totally in birthday card making mode. Be prepared for several birthday card posts this month.

The cards I am sharing today are for two of my co-workers.  Very nice ladies, who deserved very pretty cards.  My inspiration for the cards came from two brilliant designers at Studio Calico.

This card was inspired by Gayatri Murali. I used Core'dinations Cardstock for the card base and some new 110lb Core'dinations Cardstock stamping base.  This new cardstock is awesome for stamping and for coloring!  

My next card was inspired by the very talented Dana Flenkenstein.  Again, I used Core'dinations Cardstock for the base and embossed roses.  Both cards contain stamps from Stampin' Up!

A Couple of Cards

Hello, Hello!  I have not fallen off the face of the blog planet, I promise.   Our household is adjusting to having a high school freshman who is busy with varsity soccer six days a week and a hubby who is now commuting to the office (he has worked at home for the last four years).  This transition forces my creativity to take a back seat to life.  It also forces my blog to take a back seat to life.  I'm not complaining though, this is an exciting time for my family and I don't want to miss out! I promise I will be posting, just not as frequently in the next couple of months.

Today I have a couple of birthday cards to share with you.  First up is a pretty card that I made for one of my best girlfriends.  She so appreciates a handmade card.  I so appreciate that she saves them all!

Twice The Birthday Fun!

August is a big month for our family and friends.  Today I am sharing two cards made for Lily's friends who just happen to be twins. They have two totally different personalities so I made them two totally different cards.

The first card is bright and cheery and simple.  I used scraps of paper, just added some angles and layered the papers.  The stamp is from Unity Stamp Co.

The second card is a bit grungy and edgey.  I used Core'dinations Cardstock for my base and crinkled background.  Lots of fun Pink Paislee accents to decorate it and again, the sentiment is from Unity Stamp Co.  

I Hope Your Birthday Rocks!

Hello!  Today is my hubby's birthday.  He is a lover of music.  That really is an understatement.

I made him a simply, grungy music card with one of my favorite Unity Stamp Co. sets, Skip A Beat.  Scott actually gave this set to me as a gift at Christmas time.  He has good taste, doesn't he?  

To grunge up the card I just gave it a tiny crinkle and then sanded it down and dusted it.  Stamped the funky styled sentiment right onto the textured Core'dinations Cardstock.  Also stamped the record player on the back, smoother side, of more Core'dinations.

Core'dinations & Imaginisce Blog Hop Day 2

Core'dinations and Imaginisce have teamed up this week to bring you lots of inspirations!  Each day of the hop the designers share their fantastic designs using Core'dinations AND Imaginisce products.  There is an awesome prize from both companies, too!  Random winners will be chosen from those that hop and likes both Core'dinations and Imaginisce on Facebook. 

For the hop, I am sharing a layout and card.  The layout is chock-full of Core'dinations Darks,  Chocolate Box and Distress Collections, along with Imaginisce Outdoor Adventure Collection.  This was the perfect pairing for a winter hike layout of my hubby.   The title work was created by sanding a piece of Chocolate Box and then stamping the alphas.  The alphas were hand-cut, as were the trees in the border.  I added a bit of white chalking ink as the snow on the trees. If you look close, you can see where I used some Imaginisce Glam Rocks as punctuation.

For my birthday card, I used scrap cardstock from the layout above to create the fun circle die cuts.  The sentiment is stamped on the smooth backside af a piece of Core'dinations Snowflake.  Imaginisce Pearl Glam Rocks were randomly added as an accent.  Love that pop of white on the bright Core'dinations papers!

The card I am sharing for today's hop is the card I made for my Mom's birthday, which was last week.  I love making pretty birthday cards for my Mom. She truly appreciates what is made by hand.  Of course, she is a crafter herself.   Combining Core'dinations Cardstock and Couture Creations embossing folders & doily die were just what I need to make her a pretty card for this year's birthday.

I really enjoyed using Couture Creations products with Core'dinations Cardstock!  The embossing folders are really crisp and the embossing really stands out on all the Core'dinations Cardstock.  The doily die is incredibly intricate, yet it cut through the hearty Core'dinations Cardstock like butter.  I look forward to playing with these product again!

My sister, Kerry, had a birthday yesterday.  I waited to share her card here until I knew she got it in the mail.  No spoilers on my blog!  I know Kerry is an active follower on my Facebook Fanpage.

I made her a pretty card.  With lots of yellow.  I am totally loving yellow lately!

I even decorated the inside this time.

Reason To Celebrate

Happy Sunday! Our grandson, Chase, turned 2 on Friday. So hard to believe that our lil' man is 2. We have him and his brother for the day today. Hoping to get some 2 year pics of Chase. Tonight we are celebrating him with a BBQ and cake.

I had no idea where I was going with this card when I stamped and embossed this great Boy In Cape image from Viva Las VegaStamps, but I am so happy with how it turned out.  It is fun and colorful just like our lil' man.
