I Can Bring Home the Bacon....

And fry it up in a pan!  That commercial from my childhood conjours up images of a woman doing anything she sets her mind to.  I seem to be on a roll lately of fixing, making, and redoing around the house.  I finished my latest project just in time to share on
Shanty to Chic's "I made it without my Husband" link party.
I had these old shelves that I took out of my craft area two years ago
because they kept falling off the wall:

And these much needed, but not-so-attractive, lights from IKEA
(please do not mind my very messy craft desk):

What is a girl to do?
Buy some black Krylon spray paint, gorilla glue, and black colonial brackets
and raid dear hubby's screw draw & then go to town!
This is my finished product.  I am so happy with them!

Now all I need to do is make some pretty cord covers!

Look at that! They look really great. I love the black /white classy theme you've got going. How about just painting the cords the same color of your wall and then just anchoring them flat to the wall somewhere below the desk where you can't see the anchor. They should virtually disappear then.

PS. Like the shabby new blog look too!

Rock on Katie! I love that you "dressed up" the shelves all by yourself. I'm totally singing along with you, too.... cuz I'm a Wo-Man....
