Good morning! I realized this morning I have been a bit neglectful of my blog over the last week. I have been busy creating for the holidays and doing design team work. I took a part-time job at a library in July. Since I am lover of books this job totally suits me. I work with some pretty fabulous people at the library who all enjoy my love of books and who all have a list mile long of books they want to read. Everyone there shares a little goodie at Christmas time, so I altered mini-books for my co-workers to keep track of their book lists. Gone are the little slips of paper with books and authors in everyone's cubby!
I found some mini-composition books at the dollar store that were perfect for this. I kept them very simple and altered to reflect the individual tastes of my co-workers. The first three I made are chocked full of Webster's Pages papers. The 6x6 size collections were perfect for this project! The back of the books were covered with the back side of each of these papers. Sorry, no picture of that!
The papers and doilies were attached using Decoupage. I am finding I like that better than Mod Podge because it doesn't bubble unless I am heavy-handed. The ribbons and trim were attached using Helmar 450.
Sorry for the poor focus, but I still wanted to share these because they are for the men who work at the library. This Tim Holtz paper was perfect for a masculine book. I kept them understated and simple. Our reference librarian was particularly happy with this!
