Beach to Beacon 1:01:45

Yesterday I ran the Beach to Beacon 10k in Cape Elizabeth.  This is the race that is organized by Joan Benoit Sameulson.  You all know her, right?  6000 racers, from 43 states and 16 different countries.  That's alota runners!  You know it is a big race when they let the "elite" runners start before us lackeys.

This is the third time I have run this specific race.  But, it is the first time that I was prepared, feeling strong, and did not have to walk one little stride.  The people, oh the people, were just in my way!!!  It was more like dodging people than it was running a race.  And while it was frustrating not to be able to get a good stride and to have people stop dead in front of me, it was still amazing to see the sea of people running in front of me and behind me.

Every time I run a race, the goal is just to finish.  Well, I did! Not with my personal best time (which was actually in June), but I won't complain about my 1:01:45 race time.

Will I be doing this one next year?  Probably not.  I'll look for a smaller 10K supporting a local charity and call it good.
