Sunday Soccer & Saturday Scrapping

I love this time of year!  It is the beginning of the fall soccer season & the time of year that I actually get to spend a good portion of a weekend day scrapping.

Lily's 1st soccer game of the fall season was today. A beautiful, sunny, 81 degree afternoon was perfect for a winning soccer game. Lily got one goal and several assists.  I am amazed by her increased footwork skill and speed.

I absolutely love the action in photo below.  You can see #20, in blue, putting up her hands in preparation for Lily kicking the ball:

There is no way Lily is letting #6 get that ball from her!
Yesterday was a perfect scrappy day!  The rain came down, Lily was at a friend's house, and my girlfriend came up from Boston to scrap with me. My mojo is back and that couldn't make me happier.

"My Room" - Phase Two

It seems as though there isn't enough time in the day to accomplish all that I am anxious to accomplish.  Today, my lovely little assistant, Lily, helped me to finish my armoire.
I really couldn't have done it without her helpful hands.
With that finished, phase two is done and onto phase three we go!

Here is the room painted:

"My" Room - Phase One

The renovations have begun!  Yesterday we emptied out the former day care room.  Many of the items in my day care were given to my girlfriend (& co-worker for the last 7 years) who is opening her own pre-school.  The rest is being donated to a local UU church that has a program that donates supplies to families in need.

Phase One:
 1) Empty out room
2) clean woodwork
3) fill in a million little holes with putty
4) order bamboo flooring
5) pick out paint
6) set up new space for Lil & Kass in basement

Phase One is complete! Hopefully, Phase Two will happen Wednesday!

New Camera, New Sneak Peak, New Life!

That is my new camera right there!  Nikon D90.  Isn't it purty??? I can't even tell you how excited we (Scott, too) are to have this fabulous camera.  User friendly, fabulous photos (Scott loves the macro), and video ability are just some of the pluses.  I could have done without the price tag....OUCH!  Thinking she (yes, she) needs a name. Any ideas?

The above photo is my newest sneak peak. It is for ScrapFIT's second workout challenge. This is a fun filled challenge!  Be sure to check out the new challenge and DT examples on the 15th.

This crew of cuties were my preschoolers this past year. They are all going to kindergarten in a couple of weeks. Two of them I cared for since birth and the other three have been in my life for one to three years.  Along with them, I have cared for many children over the last 8 years.  I will be saying good-bye to that wonderful career tomorrow. I consider myself lucky to have had such amazing children in my life for so long. As I move forward to a new career as a Business Consultant (fancy name for business grunt work) for the Center for Communication, I will carry a bit of all the children with me.

Sunday ramblings....

This week was right out of "Crazy, Busy, Mom's Weekly!"

Sunday~ Lily lost her glasses in the ocean.  There is really a whole story behind this that would send any loving, attentive Mom over the edge.  I will be kind and not babble on about the anxiety causing details.

The brighter side of Sunday is that on Monday ~ Lily got a new pair of cute glasses & I got to spend some 1 on 1 time with her picking them out and having lunch at Panera.  Lil had British Soccer Camp that night while I went to a Hip Hop class.

Tuesday ~ a little less eventful than Monday...grocery shopping, soccer camp, and I dragged myself to a booty kicking Boot Camp class.

Wednesday ~ worked my "other" job, more soccer camp for Lily, Hot Mamas Finale at my house with 22 Hotties.  Our "hottest mama" one a pot o' cash of $795!!!!  Pretty great for losing weight, isn't it?

Thursday ~ Kass cut ALL her hair off. Think a cross between "16 Candles" Molly Ringwald & Desperately Seeking Susan "Madonna". See "Friday" for why there isn't a pic of it yet. More soccer camp, Scott's family over for dinner, and a 4 mile run with Lisa (much needed stress relief).

Friday ~  Scott's band, "The Townies," played the Paradise Rock Club in Boston!  We took off early for the city so we could chill and enjoy dinner out with everyone before the much anticipated show.  I got lots of great photos!!!  THE BOYS ROCKED THE HOUSE!!!!
BUT (and it is a big one) my camera is now missing with all the photos on it.  Where? How?  I have no clue. It is just gone.  I am more sad that the photos are gone than about the camera.
Now I just have to chose between a Nikon D60 and a D90.

Saturday ~ We got home in time to pack up and head out to a summer BBQ at my sister's.  It was so great to go visit them and enjoy the day.

Today ~ we are chillin'!  Well, kinda...Scott dragged me out for a 4 mile run & then to Dairy Queen for a treat.

I'll leave you with my only creation of the week.
A thank you card for Hope:

Beach to Beacon 1:01:45

Yesterday I ran the Beach to Beacon 10k in Cape Elizabeth.  This is the race that is organized by Joan Benoit Sameulson.  You all know her, right?  6000 racers, from 43 states and 16 different countries.  That's alota runners!  You know it is a big race when they let the "elite" runners start before us lackeys.

This is the third time I have run this specific race.  But, it is the first time that I was prepared, feeling strong, and did not have to walk one little stride.  The people, oh the people, were just in my way!!!  It was more like dodging people than it was running a race.  And while it was frustrating not to be able to get a good stride and to have people stop dead in front of me, it was still amazing to see the sea of people running in front of me and behind me.

Every time I run a race, the goal is just to finish.  Well, I did! Not with my personal best time (which was actually in June), but I won't complain about my 1:01:45 race time.

Will I be doing this one next year?  Probably not.  I'll look for a smaller 10K supporting a local charity and call it good.

Layout Reveal for ScrapFIT's first challenge!

ScrapFIT has revealed the first challenge! This challenge's sponsor is Treasured Scrapbooking. The challenge is to do a layout about water and use ink in the layout.
Above is my DT layout for the challenge.
It was a perfect challenge for the photos from our Wells Beach fun a few weeks ago.
For the ink, I edged the entire layout with brown, circled the "july" with the same ink, and stamped the alpha chipboard with orange ink.

Go ahead and pop over to ScrapFIT & check out the other DT members awesome layouts.
Don't forget to submit your layout for the challenge!
